In my first year at Rubicon Dance, the other first-years and I were tasked with creating a group piece based on different Anthony Gormley sculptures as a part of our C8 unit. We originally created a 4-minute piece to show to a small audience in order to get feedback, but in the end we were given the opportunity to continue working on it, with the end goal of performing it at the end-of-year show now as a 5-and-a-half-minute piece. When we returned for our second year, we were given another opportunity to both progress and perform 'Horizons' once again, this time for National Dance Company Wales - 'Youth Launch'. We did have some struggles within this creative process as one of the original dancers had left and we needed to teach our new team member the whole dance while having to change certain sections that we could no longer do or make them cleaner and more effective. We were able to work well as a team in such a short amount of time, teaching the dance, creating new choreography, cleaning the piece, and getting the timings correct. We ended up performing three times that day, one for the rest of the performers to watch, the first show at 4 p.m., and the second show at 7 p.m., all of which we got a great response from.
